Careers advice
The Careers Advisory Service team currently comprises three dedicated Careers Advisors, a Work Placement Organiser and a Careers Information Officer, and they divide their time between Tremough and Woodlane campuses. The team work with undergraduate and postgraduate students on a range of topics including:
- Career choices
- Work experience
- Postgraduate options
- Work and study overseas
- CV writing
- Interview techniques
The Careers Advisory team have a comprehensive website with useful specialist information about career options after graduating from your degree. There is also information about self-employment and vacancies for full-time, part-time, freelance and voluntary work.
In addition we have a main Careers library at Tremough and a more condensed library located near the IT suite at Woodlane.
Within the libraries you will find information relating to:
- Occupational information - with a range of specific career details
- Employer directories
- Postgraduate prospectuses and directories
- Funding - ‘Funderfinder' program to identify possible sources of finance
- CV writing and job interviews
- Self-employment opportunities and working freelance
- Travel books, volunteering and gap years
The Careers Advisory Service is located at the Tremough campus within the Accommodation & Welfare Service and at Woodlane campus within the library block.
Students meet with Careers Advisors through group sessions run in conjunction with courses and through one-to-one advice sessions, when there is the opportunity to focus on individual decisions and preparation for future employment. This service is open to students in all years, on both campuses and up to three years after graduation.
Tremough careers interviews are available in the Careers Advisory Service throughout the week. To book an interview, either drop in or call +44 (0)1326 370460.
Woodlane careers interviews are conducted in the Careers Office just outside the main library. To book an interview, an appointment diary is kept at the library enquiry desk or call +44 (0)1326 370460.
